kenwood slicer
I guess for the price I shouldn't complain, but the plastic cog connected to the electic spiral that drives the blade wore out quite quickly, and is not replacable. they should use a metal cog against the spiral screw so it will last longer. I had to throw the whole slicer away because of one worn cog. Think i will go for a more expensive metal one this time -

Hopeless for homemade bread
Like other reviewers we bought this slicer to use with the excellent Panasonic breadmaker, based on the generally good reviews. But we soon gave up on it and it is now on its way to a jumble sale. As others have stated, the sharp curve on exiting the blade causes our breads to break up. Plus the blade really struggles to get through the crusts, so it takes forever to cut a loaf. I'm not sure if it's a lack of sharpness or lack of horsepower which makes it so feeble. Either way, it hasn't done the job for us, just as well it's relatively cheap. -

Absolutely useless
We bought this because of all the positive reviews saying it was excellent for homemade bread, but it's HOPELESS. Blade is unbelievably blunt (my husband was able to hold his finger against it whilst operating it without getting cut!), rotates so slowly that it takes around 10 mins to slice up a 2lb loaf, and the exit angle for the cut slice is so wide that (as other reviewers have noted) it just splits and mangles fresh bread. After attempts to modify it so that it might possibly be some use, we gave up and bought a manual slicer on Ebay - much better! -

Tears homemade bread
I don't understand how so many other reviewers have found this works as well as they say it does. Only one other person describes having the problems I have with this. Unless you chose to slice the bread very thick, the slices tear as they try to get out through the curved exit. I only bought it to slice my own stoneground wholemeal bread and it is not a success. -
