get moving
I bought this for my wife to exercise at home to, and it has proved to be very popular. It goes through the steps in enough detail first so you are not left behind when the music starts. The music is excellent and you find it hard not to join in! Very good value.

Dirty Dancing Workout? More like Flop out
I love Dirty Dancing and had high hopes for finally acquiring an exercise DVD that I would actually enjoy, but I was really disappointed with it for a number of reasons.
Before I explain my disappointment, I think it's important to point out that ideally you need to have some basic experience in either Salsa or Meringue dancing to do this DVD, as some of the moves are a bit difficult for beginners.

The DVD starts off with some training sections to teach you the dance steps and get you warmed up etc. Being the Dirty Dancing video, I expected to be exercising to music from the movie all the way through. Unfortunately all but one of the training sections are choreographed to what can only be described as really BAD lift music (which was obviously a blatant attempt to save ££ on royalties). I was stunned that they didn't even bother to use cheap Salsa Music to at least keep to the theme of movie!
They sort of redeem themselves at the end when they bring all of the dance moves together and you jig along to a few songs from the movie, but the dancing is quite fast and complicated at this point and my friend who has never done salsa before couldn't keep up with it. For me, I have to say that the terrible lift music has put me right off ever doing the DVD again.

They only show you a few steps from the movie and some of the other dance moves (especially the ones choreographed by the male presenter) make you feel like a total idiot - even if you are completely alone in your own home with the curtains closed!
Also, the presenting skills of the instructors are just so cheesy it becomes dyer. They do an awful sketch right at the beginning of the DVD with a water melon which just made me swear at the telly.

With better production, music and presenters, this DVD could have been a fantastic, totally addictive chick flick workout. Unfortunately I am left feeling relieved that I only spent a few pounds buying a second hand copy off Amazon rather than paying full price for it!
My advice? Borrow a friends copy before purchasing to see if it annoys you!

Ok
I bought the DVD under the impression (deluded) that it would teach me how to dance like they did in Dirty Dancing. Because I am sort of new to dancing I struggled. The presenters couldn't get more cheesier, and although some of the moves were easy to understand, I just felt it lacked that thing I was looking for. Fun. It looked more like hard work than fun, and you permanently felt like it was a DVD to be shared and enjoyed with friends not just by yourself.

I would recommend it for girls nights in though.

Complete disappointment
I was so excited about this dvd but feel utterly disappointed. Yes, the choreography has some original bits from the movie, yes, the routines are ultimately done on some songs from the movie. However, it never comes close to the level of the dances in the movie.
When people replied that it was quite difficult I was quite happy, as I'm an amateur latin dancer and didn't want it to be too easy. Also, it had to be a bit challenging so I can work on my stamina. Unfortunately I didn't even come close to being out of breath. I think this dvd is good for rather unexperienced dancers and really unfit people, because it will teach you some new moves and is probably benificial if you're out of shape.

DO NOT BUY!!
This DVD is GARBAGE! A complete gimmick. Poorly instructed and the dance instructors are really annoying. The set looks horrendous. Everything about this DVD is cheesy. It's a complete and utter waste of money. DO NOT BUY!!!
