compact or what !!
This player is so tiny it is almost unbelievable, have had absolutely no problems with it,fully charged in under 90mins,easy to load with music, and the sound quality is excellent,I found the controls very simple and the price unbeatable. The belt clip is also very handy.

Good but limited.
This is a handy little thing, with good FM radio and good quality MP3 playback, although I don't use the headphones and can't comment. Battery life excellent.

But there are limitations. It took a very computer savvy friend to install it on my Apple Power Book G4. I had to download Juice software to go through the laborious process of getting podcasts on it - the main reason why I bought it. Getting them on and off the gadget is straight forward, but a drag compared to the plug-in-and-go ipod that I had previously used, which just bumps up itunes. Some of the navigation controls are either simplistic or downright annoying to use, although I understand that on a cheap machine this is not a dramatic problem.

Most crucially of all, the volume output is rubbish. I can barely hear the podcasts when near a road with moderate traffic. I tracked down and bought a tiny amplifier called a Fiio to fix the problem. It does, but it eats batteries, and completely negates the point of having such a dinky little gadget.

Music doesn't seem to be quite as low-volume as speech, but nevertheless it's hardly brilliant. I don't regret the purchase, but, when I thought I'd lost it last weekend, I eagerly started planning to buy a Nano - I was almost disappointed when I found it again! Fix the volume and the other little things I mentioned are no more than annoyances. Don't fix it, and the main reason for owning an MP3 player - sound on the move - doesn't work.

Cheers.

Great little mp3 but where is the FM radio???
Altogether this is a great little mp3 player for the money. Its tiny, the volume is good and it clips on while jogging etc without any hassle. Earphones actually stay in your ears too.

Two slight issues though. Firstly music does not appear on the player as dragged and dropped. Artist/album properties must be correct on computer before placing onto the player. Secondly the FM radio function is basically a con for the simple reason it does not work. The aerial is not strong enough to pick up.

Altogether its fine for the money.

A very big (but small) suprise
Absoloutely fantastic bit of kit, the main points:
1) Great design, really tiny with good lighting and very readable screen.
2) Good menus, very easy to use.
3) Syncs really well with PC. Even if you drag and drop an album into the main folder on the Sansa it recognises it's an album and puts them all in order etc.
4) Only not 5 stars because the claimed 15 hour battery life appears to be a bit keen. I reckon it'll last for about 5 on a full charge - which is fine for me.
5) For £25 it's smaller, better looking an easier to use than any of the cheap ipods. Result.

what more do you want? exept pictures or videos
when it arrived i thought there was a mistake!surly that wasn't an mp3 player. that little blackthing in the packet. but it was! it's extreamly small, exactly the length of a,aa battery and has all you could ever want in an mp3 player. i am a pessimist but even i cannot fault the purchase. unlike many small mp3 players this one has simplicity and although it may take a bit of getting used to it is easy to use and suprisingly easy to control. There is a risk of losing it and i wouldun't advise you giving it to a small child, however it is very compact and is built to a high quality. The screen is fantasticly bright, and the volume can easily go high enough to deafen you. the earphones are also good but are fragile and i suspect they wont last very long. with my old mp3 i had to scroll down the list at a very slow pace to get to the song i wanted and although it is the same princible with this player when you hold it down on this it flicks through the songs extreamly fast, a great feature. the only downside is the screen is very small and can be a pain to switch off.

the settings
equaliser with a custom setting and and a choice of mono or sterio.
other stuff.....................you can rate the songs and the ones you rate top goes into a top rated folder. easy to transfer files ASLONG AS YOU HAVE A WINDOWS XP!!!! i didunt need to download the software from the cd. all i did is connect it to the computer and put all my songs on, simple as that!
Trust me you wont be dissapointed. Even if you dont have any songs on there after its charged, about 4 hours and it lasts at least 10, you can use the exellent radio ( not as good as car radio's but for the size you cant complain) although its not so good for car journeys when you are sitting still there is great quality and if there is a song you realy like thats playing on the radio you can record it, and if the quality's good enough you won't even have to download it!

all in all if you want a cheap but by no means tacky mp3 which will impress your friends, fit in the smallest of pockets, can be played in the gym with the clever clip on bit and will beat any competitors in its feild then buy it, i can esure you wont regret it unless it breaks (well oviously). Plus the free deliverly came within 4 days, so it ooook!
