Very Disappointed
The signal strength on this thing is AWFUL. In my car (Vauxhall Zafira), I couldn't get any reception at all. It was a little better in my wife's (Toyota Yaris) but still only audible when the engine noise was low. On the motorway I couldn't hear a thing. Even at home, I could only get reception from my hifi when the phone was virtually touching the aerial.

Have had a Griffin transmitter for an iPod before and it worked MUCH better than this in exactly the same environments.

Would recommend getting a converter to allow your phone to output through a normal stereo jack and a third party transmitter rather than buying this.

Punching well above its weight..... and price tag!
I read the other reviews on here before I bought the MMR-70 transmitter so was not expecting an awful lot but then £15 worth of technology is never going to compete on the same level as full stereo system!

What you've got to bare in mind is that the device works on radio frequency, so if you've got it set on a weak station, the sound quality is going to be very poor.

It takes a lot of fiddling but once you find a good station, the sound quality is surprisingly good. Even with the volume wacked up I couldn't hear any 'hiss'.

If you live in the Midlands, set the transmitter to FM2 99.9 I've stuck with that frequency and have had perfect sound quality from Bristol to Birmingham, Nottingham and London.

I bought the transmitter so that I wouldn't have to lug so much stuff around with me in the car like an iPod; it's hassle free, compact and pretty robust. I've had mine for about 9 months and it hasn't let me down once. For £15, you can't go wrong, well worth a buy!

Rather poor performance
Yes it DOES work - kind of. Signal is very weak, scarcely plays in car, though works better with domestic FM radio in house.

Good, not great!
After reading some of the negative reviews I was reluctant to buy this transmitter, but still decided to give it a go. I have to say I'm quite impressed. It's very easy to use: Once plugged into your phone select a frequency away from radio stations (such as 108.0 fm) then tune your radio to the same frequency, and you can listen to whatever your phone is playing.

I'll admit it's not CD clarity, I use this in the car, and you need to crank up the volume, at this high volume you do pick up a small amount of hiss, but nothing worse than an old audio cassette. I have the phone/transmitter placed just 12" from the car stereo head unit, and it plays fine. I've also taken it in a friend's car, and it worked fine for him too.

All in all I'm happy with this product, and would recommend it.

Sony Ericsson MMR-70 FM Transmitter
Initially I tried this with a portable FM Radio and was very disappointed. The range and signal strength is very poor, it's supposed to be 10m, but if you move it more than 1m away from the radio the signal breaks up. Next I tried it in the car, which was better. However, due to the weak signal transmitted by the MMR-70 you do need to find a very quiet frequency on your radio. Also you need to have your phone turned up to Max, I even pumped the levels on the phones EQ to get more output. For some reason the track info option is greyed out on my K800i and doesn't transmit to RDS, but the caller info works ok. In conclusion this does work but the signal strength needs to be improved.
