The first of three planned movies
Running David (Max Thieriot) loves little Millie (AnnaSophia Robb) with a love that couldn't die. He couldn't swim the raging river; but he leaned how to jump. What would you do if you found the ability to transport? Yep the first plan was to exacta all not nasty old paper in the local bank. Where do we go from here? For one thing it irks some people including fanatic "jumper hunter" Roland (Samuel L. Jackson.) We find new friends and enemies no known in the book. Then we have David's nagging question "Who/what is mommy?
Inspired by the jumper character in the youth novels of Steven Gould the movie tried to rely more on the real world locations than graphics. They did a good job on jumper graphics. The names have not been changed just the story. In an effort not to follow the standard supper hero formula they instead relied on the Sunday afternoon T.V. children's specials formula.
The film is entertaining but the efforts to be artsy or the efforts be unique are lost in the mundane and standard chase scenes.

Entertaining if empty
It's a good, fun action movie with 2007's best special effect gimmick. Christiansen makes some amends for Star Wars here, but it's Jamie Bell who steals the show. -

Fantastic fun
I don't care what anyone says about this movie...it's nothing if not entertaining. The special effects are great and it certainly has the cool factor. OK, so there's the odd hole in the plot...but so long as you can overlook that then you should enjoy the movie. It's obvious there's going to be a sequel... -

Not too Wooley...
The concept behind the movie is very good in that someone is able to transport themselves from one place to another nearly instantaneously, which also means in and out of vaults in various banks. The effects used to do this were well presented, although having lived in Egypt and having been to the Sphinx and seeing how the 'Antiquities' police are, our hero wouldn't have had much time to have done any sunbathing before being told to move on (or gestured, which was the usual trick)...
The end I thought was a little anti-climatic and at the end you sort of thought "ahh, that's the end then". No real lead up to it, but I guess it does leave to door open for a sequel.
