INTENSE
Just got this from my brother for Christmas. BLEW MY MIND. watch it.
urm.
the extras are really funny and varied. they never break character.
Such a shame that this show isnt on anymore, most hilarious thing i've seen in ages. You may like this even if you dont like 'quirky' comedy like the mighty boosh by the way, i hate that but loved this.
well you'll either get it or you wont, if you dont, you're a fool.

A Turning Point For Modern Surreal Comedy
I love this dvd. Darkplace is a short and snappy comedy sci-fi/thriller series with the unique pretence that it's actually from the 1980s. Unlike other comedies the charade is continued in a truely professional style, even with excellent low-budget props, note Rick's hilarious car... Skipper The Eye Child is a very memorable episode, and the commentary about the censorship in the rape scene is brilliant. Some scenes are just brilliant even when taken out of context; like the scene where Dean is repeatedly blasting the resurected corpse they had just buried with a shotgun. Just the image of this is great entertainment, even without the other excellet features, such as great prop modelling, 'authentic' music and absurd exaggerated sexism towards Liz, who is often seen to be rushing off to the toilet to re-apply her make-up. Overall this is an excellent and unique comedy series for anyone with a bizarre yet knowing sense of humour. After an evening in the pub with friends, what better way to enjoy yourselves and forget about everything that's important in the world. If you're friends are always going on about The Mighty Boosh, set them straight and recommend they watch this. -

Garth Marenghi is the horror writer from Hell
Spoof of the horror series from the 70s
It may be an acquired taste for some, but I found this series very very funny.
Funny enough to trace down and buy the DVD just for the extras.
