On Region TWO DVD at long last!!!
I bought this some time ago on Region ONE DVD as that's all that was available at the time. Great to see this on Region TWO now for UK/Europe.

Great for the kids and just as entertaining for the adults - Sunday afternoon, just had lunch, pot of tea.....PERFECT!!!!!

This is the original, or the DVD I purchased is, mine came in a with the modern looking art work as seen one other sites with cardboard outer (much like the latest Narnia cases, not the one shown above). The copy I received is exactly the same as seen in the early 80's and also the one I managed to copy from free view several months ago. The film is a crisp picture with the original voices British (not American as some reviews say).
As for people being disappointed with this and it not being what you thought you were getting, read the description this is a 1979 Animated B.B.C Film (actually American, but picked up quickly by the B.B.C). Do not mix this up with other animations or other TV versions. If you are looking for the old animation which many of us are this is it!

Not the cartoon from my Childhood
I keep trying to find the original Magical British animation of my Childhood. I've tried this one but not with the British voice over. I still don't think it's the original, as it was done buy an American (snoopy)! It doesn't capture the magic of the original British animation (which has seemed to disapear!).
But Maybe I'm wrong? Where is the original?!

Don't be too excited
For those of you who don't know...this cartoon version was made BEFORE the feature film, so please read the description carefully. Talking of the description, note that this film DOES NOT contain the original UK cast including Arthur Lowe and June Whitfield. The cartoon was revoiced some time ago with American sounding accents which has dissappointed me a little as I'd bought it for my mother under the impression (via the product description) that it starred the original 1979 cast. It doesn't...so beware.

THE REAL NARNIA!!
Just to make it clear, this is not the recent live action film of Lewis's classic story. And praise be to Aslan for that since this 1979 animation, which is utterly faithful to the spirit of the original book has the Disney/Walden version blown clean out of the water. True the animation is basic and rather stylised, but it matters not a jot; this animated gem has a charm and depth of feeling the more recent film, for all it's high tech special effects, comes nowhere near achieving. Forget the Disney version and watch this instead to experience the authentic Narnia
