Don't wait to buy this album!!
This album is brilliant, and although it sounds typical of its genre, it sounds unique and it does not sound boring or generic.

Instead, you can expect track after track of infectiously catchy, punchy, indie pop-rock with great instrumentals and vocals as well as well thought out lyrics.

You've undoubtly heard I Found Out. If you liked that song, you will like the rest of the album. There are no throwaway tracks on this album and each is as good as the rest.

Brilliant upbeat album
I borrowed this album off a friend having never heard the Pigeon Detectives before and within a couple of days of having listened to the odd song i found myself in love with this album.

Absolutely brilliant upbeat songs with a few slower but still cheerful songs. Doesnt get boring easily, despite a lot of listening. Pretty unique (as far as i've heard). Catchy.

Lyrics good
Melodies great

End result: 10/10 :)

I recommend this to anyone who likes The Wombats, The Fratellis, The Kooks, and most people who like The Killers ( for a slightly less depressing experience :) )

caught in their trap!
Admittedly upon first listen of this CD I was certain the Pigeons were just another standard indie band, yet after just a few listens of this I found myself totally loving this striking debut.
This CD flows flawlessly, each song a remarkable prologue to the next, it's so easy to listen to and is guaranteed to have you singing and dancing wherever you are!
Sure the boys aren't about to win any brit awards but this cd does exactly what any indie/pop cd should do, it's fun, memorable and completely captivating!
You will not regret buying this, especially at this price! Best tracks include 'Take her back,' 'You know I love you' and the massive opener 'Romantic type.'

Don't flip this one the bird
Rather like one of 2007's other debut releases, Cold War Kids' 'Robbers & Cowards', this album starts brilliantly and fades a little in terms of quality of songwriting towards the end of their rather good debut. Having said that, the reason for the success of this album is because of the sheer energy and superbly catchy quality of the trio of songs which open this collection and also because there isn't a song on this album that doesn't deliver in some way.

There are echoes of The Undertones and The Buzzcocks at their best on the superb 'I Found Out' and, all throughout the album, it's almost like The Pigeon Detectives (who hail from the same city as The Kaiser Chiefs, Leeds) have captured how to effectively combine late 70s Pop/Punk with some of the more fashionable indie acts such as The Strokes or Hot Hot Heat.

This is a very likeable effort, with themes of love and loss predominant throughout the album, making it easy to connect with the straightforward, but by no means unintelligent, lyrics. This band, especially if their second album (due in May 2008) builds on the good work demonstrated on this release, could easily be part of the big names on the rock/indie scene. If they don't quite make it - well, at least they've released a consistently enjoyable, high quality debut.
